THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING OPPRESSED OR POSSESSED BY DEMONS

When a person is oppressed by demons they will hear demonic thoughts in their minds – which sounds like their own thoughts – often thousands of times each day (2005 – the National Science Foundation found the average person has 12,000 thoughts a day and 80% are negative). Some of the thoughts a person has from demons will be true because otherwise you would not believe them, but they will always twist something to get you to believe a lie in order to ultimately hurt you. The demons’ goal is to cause people to believe what they say which causes them to struggle with fear, anxiety, anger, regret, revenge, bitterness, condemnation, jealousy, lust, depression, mental disorders, suicidal thoughts, believing godly people are bad and to not be trusted and to believe ungodly people are good and are to be trusted. The demons want Christians to justify allowing sin to be common in their lives so they will stay walking in their flesh instead of changing to walking in the spirit. The demons ultimately want to take the person to hell by causing them to disobey the Bible and Jesus.

The Lord wants us to get the Holy Spirit so we can get help and guidance to tell us the truth and convict us to get delivered from sin. The Holy Spirit helps us to remove the legal rights that demons have to torment us by telling us we must forgive all who hurt us – from our hearts (Matthew 18:21-35), to repent for our pride and sin and change us to walk in the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control) and humility and sexual purity. The Holy Spirit gives us truth in our thoughts while the demons whisper lies.

All Christians are oppressed by demons when they make a commitment to become a Christian and after. The Greek word for being oppressed or influenced by demons is translated into the English word “demonized”. As we listen to the Holy Spirit more than our demons we should eventually be convicted by the truth to learn how to forgive all, repent and command demons out of our souls (mind, wills and emotions) and then take every negative demonic thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:3-6) and finally walk in the fruit of the spirit every day. We have a freewill to obey the Lord and Holy Spirit or reject the truth. If we obey we will eventually be delivered from all the demons giving us thoughts and only hear the Holy Spirit. It’s a process.

People who are possessed have rejected the Lord and Holy Spirit over and over and have finally been given over to their demons. They have no chance of being delivered from the demons in their souls as they have been taken captive. They are controlled completely by their demons and serve and obey their demons and when they die will go to hell.
