GOD LOOKS AT OUR HEARTS & MINDS – SO SHOULD WE

Throughout the Bible scripture tells us that God looks at our hearts and minds to prove out what type of person that we are – good or bad.  It doesn’t matter how beautiful or handsome a person appears to be on the outside – if they have a wicked heart and deviant mind – then their fruit will stink and they will cause you great pain being in a relationship with them.  How many times have you seen it when a woman “falls in love” with a man who can buy them anything – yet they are abused by them and the relationship ends quickly?  How many times does a man “fall in love” with a beautiful woman yet after marriage she is controlling and manipulating him and cannot stop verbally abusing him and then the relationship ends?  Most marriages are between one person who controls, manipulates and demands their own way from their mate who gives in to their every demand and receives consistent verbal abuse.  The relationship that Jezebel had with Ahab lives on today due to how people grew up with their own parents and how many emotional, physical or sexual wounds they received.  When people get wounded they hear demons in their mind that tell them to control other people and the other half hear voices telling them to give in to controlling people and tolerate them to keep the peace (which there never is any).

People talk about having love at first sight.  Yes, the physical attraction usually comes first – but it doesn’t matter how pretty or how handsome people are on the outside of  their bodies – what matters are who they really are in their hearts and minds.  If people consistently hear demonic voices in their minds and have evil intentions of their hearts – then they will often become your biggest enemy and can try to destroy you.  People who were hurt growing up by fathers, mothers, step parents, and anyone else – if they have not chosen to forgive everyone from their hearts – then the demons have legal rights to give them thoughts that will ruin their lives and all those who have a close relationship with them. Hurting people will hurt people.  Healed people can help people.  Most people on earth have been hurt and it does not matter if you attend church or not.  Some of the most hurt people are in church and constantly hear demonic voices and hurt other people.

So what are the intentions of your heart?  What are your motivations.  Many who are men are motivated sexually to please themselves with women.  They could care less about the woman’s heart and loving her like Christ loved the church.  They are sexually motivated which wears off very soon after the wedding day. Many want to make themselves look good yet are totally selfish and egotistical and have no love in their hearts whatsoever.  Many women also are pursuing men out of a selfish heart – it could be due to a man’s status in a high paying job, a prominent ministerial position, a powerful governmental career.  But then again after the wedding the wives will often verbally berate and control their husbands and ruin the peace. Truth be told – most people are simply not healed from their soul wounds growing up and thus hear many demonic thoughts every day – and are thus motivated in their hearts and minds by selfish desires of sex, money, power, position, and pride.  Very few have God’s heart and mind and operate out of a pure heart and clean mind and walk daily in the gifts of the spirit.

Galatians 5:16-26 describes at the beginning those who operate out of their soul wounds with evil intentions of their heart and mind.  Then the latter part describes those who got healed and delivered from their demons and walk in the fruit of the spirit.

Galatians 5:16-26 NKJV

Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Let’s read some scriptures that deal with how God looks at our heart and mind and how critical it is to get our past soul wounds healed and delivered from our demons so we can actually have good fruit:

Jeremiah 17:10 NKJV

10 I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.

Matthew 7:15-23 NKJV

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Proverbs 16:2

All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight,

But the Lord weighs the motives.

1 Chronicles 28:9

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

Psalm 139:23-24

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

So suffice it to say – if we are not healed from our wounds from our past then we will hear many demonic thoughts in our mind that will taint our heart’s motivation out of a selfish and evil desire.  When we get healed and delivered our hearts and minds become pure and more Christlike and then have good intentions and godly thoughts and care about serving and loving others out of the clean heart and mind.   It is a beautiful thing to live in love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control every day of your life.  To be true and genuine and not fake.  To love like Christ loves the church.
