THE RELIGIOUS SPIRIT WILL FORCE YOU TO STAY MARRIED TO YOUR ABUSER

We all want marriages to be healthy and loving and kind but both the husband and wife have a freewill to choose to love each other in a godly way or hurt the other. If a person refuses to get healed from their soul wounds, forgive those who hurt them and repent for pride and sin then they will manifest in a demonic way on their spouse to control and manipulate them emotionally.

People in the church who operate out of a religious spirit will often force those being emotionally abused to stay married to their abuser which will cause them to have no peace and ultimately stop their assignment from the Lord. The religious people will demean and shame them to stay in their abusive marriages with their demonic spouse who will act like they are godly but have no fruit of the spirit and walk in their flesh.

God never wants anyone to stay in an emotionally, physically or sexually abusive marriage. It can literally cause you to get sick and die early. Most of the religious people will guilt those who are being abused to stay married to their abusers by telling them “God hates divorce” instead of telling them to read the entire scripture where it states that God was witness to the husband who dealt treacherously with his wife which caused violence and was the cause for the divorce. God is angry with anyone who abuses their spouse.

Malachi 2 refers to the word treacherous three times. The meaning of treacherous is someone that is not trustworthy, likely to betray trust, dangerous, especially in a way that is not easily visible. Emotional abuse is not easily visible but causes serious damage and even early death through sicknesses.

Malachi‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“And this is the second thing you do: You cover the altar of the Lord with tears, With weeping and crying; So He does not regard the offering anymore, Nor receive it with goodwill from your hands. Yet you say, “For what reason?” Because the Lord has been witness Between you and the wife of your youth, With whom you have dealt treacherously; Yet she is your companion And your wife by covenant. But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. “For the Lord God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.””

Treacherously signifies violating a trust or promise, especially a sacred one like the marriage covenant. It describes actions that are deceptive, faithless, and inconsistent with the loyalty and fidelity expected in relationships, particularly within the context of marriage and covenantal relationships with God. The abuser broke the covenant due to their emotional abuse.

The Bible is clear that abuse is wrong and should not be tolerated. The demons in abusive people cause them to think if they are only emotionally abusive that they can get away with it since they aren’t physically or sexually abusive. Wrong. Emotional abuse can lead to an early death for the victim. I knew of a woman at my church who was emotionally abused by her husband and she ended up with a brain tumor and died at age 49. He was sexually abused by his father. He got remarried and within a year his healthy new wife became sick due to his emotional abuse. Those who have emotionally abused their spouses have truly left the marriage whether they have physically left or not. Men abuse women and women abuse men. You cannot make an idol of a demonic spouse over God.

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.”
