There is a huge difference between simply believing Jesus was the son of God and attending church religiously and actually obeying what Jesus and the Bible taught. Many who attend church still tolerate unrepentant sin in their lives and walk in their flesh and have very little fruit of the spirit. We are not talking works, we are talking your character and fruit.
Many Christians still lust, look at porn, masturbate, lie, gossip, cheat, steal, walk in pride, are greedy, controlling others, falsely accusing and having anger and bitterness in their hearts toward others with no true forgiveness like Jesus talked about in Matthew 18:21-35.
Hebrews 10:26-31 NKJV says
“For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
So we need to repent for our sin and change – making sin rare in our lives. We need to obey Jesus and the Bible. We must forgive everyone who ever hurt us from our hearts. We must repent for pride and walk in humility and sexual purity. We must be delivered from demons oppressing and tormenting our thoughts which cause us to justify staying in sin. We need to walk in the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control).
Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV
““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness (sin)!’”
