SIGNS YOU ARE OPERATING IN THE SPIRIT OF AHAB
I Kings 21:25 NKJV
“But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up.”
The spirit of Ahab can affect a man or a woman
– Often has a position of influence & has money or power
– Does not like to be confronted or to have confrontations
– Allows ungodly behavior and decisions because of fear of conflict
– Will date or marry people with the Jezebel spirit (Narcissistic) and let them take charge and run the show
– Is a weak spiritual leader tolerating sin
– Strong desire to make everyone happy / more empathic
– Afraid of being rejected and alone
– Does not like taking responsibility for things that turn out bad but will do it
– Feels more secure being married to someone who will get them what they want
– Compromises on sexual purity in relationships (often Jezebel will seduce)
– Expecting bad things to take place
– Avoids telling people to behave godly and passively puts up with evil behavior
– If someone is angry with you then you believe it must be your fault
– Believes it is your duty to make everyone happy and comfortable
– Believes what others say about them (if they say you are not a good person then you believe it)
– Have a challenge making decisions
– Believe you should always act happy in spite of hardship or trouble to cover for abuser
– Often feel a failure, unaccepted, insecure
– Happiness and peace based on current circumstances and how loved, affirmed and accepted they feel
– Gives power away in order for other people to validate your identity and to tell you who you are
– Fears abandonment and becomes clingy, needy and helpless
– Never takes up their God-given freedom and refuses to step up and become assertive and command respect
– Usually do not forgive yourself and often has issues with God
– Overly merciful and sees the best in everyone – overlooks too much evil
– Forgive others too quickly without making them aware of their offenses
– Will do anything to gain acceptance
– Lets spouse walk all over them
– Have low self-esteem and tries to gain ground by winning acceptance
– Sins of omission
