HOW TO STOP DEMONS FROM GIVING YOU INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS
In 2005, the National Science Foundation published an article summarizing research on human thoughts per day. It was found that the average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those thousands of thoughts, 80% were negative, and 95% were exactly the same repetitive thoughts as the day before. We can see that one of the tendencies of the mind is to focus on the negative and ‘play the same songs’ over and over again.
There was another interesting study (Leahy, 2005, Study of Cornell University), in which scientists found that, firstly 85% of what we worry about never happens. Secondly with the 15% of the worries that did happen, 79% of the subjects discovered that either they could handle the difficulty better than expected, or that the difficulty taught them a lesson worth learning.
The conclusion is that 97% of our worries are baseless and result from an unfounded pessimistic perception.
Demons speak to Christians and non Christians alike every day giving them hundreds and thousands of thoughts to cause them to have fear, anxiety, anger, lust, bitterness, depression, suicidal thoughts.
Demons say things to our minds like:
– You are not good enough
– No one likes you
– You are a sexual pervert
– You deserve to look at porn
– You will never have enough money
– Drive your car into that tree and all your problems will be over
– Hit your dog
– Your spouse doesn’t deserve you
– Your child doesn’t respect you
– Your parents are evil and selfish
– You are going to lose your job and home and become homeless
– Your spouse thinks you are too fat and worthless
– Your church pastor doesn’t like you
– Your boss is jealous of you and is looking for a way to fire you
Demons want you to stay in fear and anger or lust. They want to convince you that godly people are bad. The Jezebel spirit convinces you that you are good and all your decisions are right and anyone who comes against you is evil.
So demons interject their voices in our minds to try to get us off base hundreds or thousands of times every day. If they can get us to believe what they are saying to us is the truth then we will never have peace.
Demons have legal rights to torment our soul (mind, will and emotions) when we allow them to through unforgiveness towards people who have hurt us, worrying about many things and not trusting God, walking in pride, living a sinful lifestyle, etc.
To start the process of eradicating the demons thoughts we need to pursue inner healing and deliverance. That can take a year or longer depending what we have endured in our lives from other people. We need to remove their legal rights through forgiveness and repentance for pride and sin.
Then we need to take every though captive and practice stopping a demonic negative thought from speaking a whole sentence in our mind. As soon as you hear a demonic thought stop it in mid sentence after a few words. Intentionally listen to the thought and if you know it will cause you to lose your peace then stop it from completing the sentence by praying in tongues, thinking about something else like a Bible scripture or the weather or sports. Declare out loud “I silence the voice of the enemy in Jesus name.” Then think on something that is true, from the Lord about yourself.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
II Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV
