What are soul wounds? We are made up of three parts. We are a spirit that has a soul and we live in a physical body. Our souls are comprised of our minds, freewill and emotions. Both Satan and God want our souls. We have a freewill to choose to serve God or Satan. When we are hurt growing up then demons have a legal right to attach to those wounds. The demons then give us thoughts in our minds and remind us of the pain that we went through, the injustices, the violations, the rejections, and when we listen to them we will not be at peace. We will have challenges sleeping at night as the enemy torments our thoughts. We will make bad decisions that will hurt us and others. We will have more fruit of the flesh then fruit of the Holy Spirit. We have to discern which thoughts are from the enemy and which are from the Lord and reject all thoughts coming from the enemy.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high (prideful) thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
So how does all of this play out in real life? Let’s say you grow up and are hurt by the way you are treated by your father or mother (or step parents) or siblings or others that you interact with. They say or do things to you that make you feel hurt, rejected, angry, not good enough, unloved, sad, dumb, jealous, envious, betrayed, etc. You also could have been touched sexually by someone as well as been verbally, physically or sexually abused. Whenever these things happen to us, our souls get wounded and then demons have legal rights to start speaking to us in our thoughts and mind. They want us to hate those who did bad things to us and to have a root of bitterness spring up. We lose our peace. We then behave in ways that are not Christlike. We may eventually say that we give our lives to Jesus and pray the Sinners’ prayer yet still the demons have legal right to stay and torment our souls as our minds hear their voices over and over again which then affect our freewills and emotions. We have never been truly healed by Jesus and still have unforgiveness and bitterness inside. That is why so many people in the church do so many things that are ungodly and unChristlike. Gossip, lies, pride, rejection, slander, flirting with people when you are married or have others you want to be desired by for approval, sexual impurity, etc. That explains why so many people in the church get divorced because either one or both are hearing demons and it causes them to have fear, strive, argue, fight, have pride, blame others for their own bad behavior and ruin their relationships.
When we get wounded in our past and are unhealed we will be triggered today and in our futures and then overreact, have fear, get jealous, argue and even rage on our victims to pay them back for all the pain we felt when younger or with our initial relationships. We may have felt rejected by one of our parents or caregivers, then have someone break up with us in high school and then later in our marriage become very jealous over nothing with our spouse causing us to blow up on them for hours, days or weeks or longer. It’s because the demons speak to our minds and give us thoughts and we don’t even discern it and then we change into an alternate personality that rages and is out of control as we become a different person that no one can get to admit the truth of what they actually did. It skews our perceptions of reality and if we were to describe a situation to someone else we would totally lie about most facts in our recollection as the demons will cause us to twist the truth in our favor and never explain the truth and then we really believe it to be true. Our victims think we are crazy because in a very real sense we are as we are under the control and influence of the demons. We become a different person, an alternate personality – our voices change, we usually have a tone, our heart rate elevates, and we lie about anything that we have done that is bad to protect us from taking responsibility as we blame our victims. The personality that people see in public, is often much different for those who are married to us behind closed doors, our children’s perspectives at home or in our extended families.
Our alternate personality was created when we were younger to protect us from the traumas and wounds that we experienced because we could not have processed what was done to us when we were younger. It is a coping mechanism. It is a gift from God to hold the emotion and pain so our core person can continue to function as it protects us until we get older so we can process it then. When we overreact and blow up over something trivial it is a sign from the Lord that we have an unhealed soul wound from our past causing us to trigger and it needs healed before it ruins our marriage and other relationships. We also often repress memories of traumas in our younger years (sexual touches, molestings, rapes, etc.) until later in life when we can finally process it with the Lord. Until we get it healed we will behave in ways that are ungodly and ruin our relationships. We must humble ourselves and look inward and then upward to Jesus. Some military people suffer traumas called PTSD from various shocking situations in war that Jesus wants to heal. When people think about what happened during those traumas and ask Jesus to come heal them then they no longer are triggered into fear, anger, etc. Some people have many alternate personalities who need their soul wounds healed so they can take away the legal right of the demons tormenting them and command them to go so they can live in peace.
So how do we get healed from our past soul wounds so we can live a more consistent life of peace, love, joy, self-control, gentleness, kindness, patience, etc? We can simply go back to the original traumas to be able to feel the emotions that we felt during that time and then ask Jesus to come and heal us and we will hear a word from Jesus which will heal our past wound. Then we can command all the demons that had attached to the wounds to go to the pit in Jesus name. Then we will feel the presence of the Lord and such a loving peace like never before. We need to do that for all of our various wounds that have not been healed and then we will no longer have the various alternate personalities which were triggered by demons affecting us. We will be calm, cool and collected all the time. We will not be jealous, angry, sexually impure, speak lies and deceit, control and manipulate other people and not be anything like the former fake Christian we were trying to get people to believe. The results have simply been amazing for those who have walked through the process. We will also see physical healings in our bodies, hear the Lord’s voice more clearly, discern things in the spirit, and be more Christlike. When we have truly forgiven everyone who has ever hurt us then the demons have no more legal right to torment us.
How do we know when our souls are cleansed from our past wounds? We will not have to fake it – we will walk in the fruit of the spirit and be Christlike most all the time. We will not be triggered from the wounds of our past with our present relationships. We will be gentle and loving and not be out of control or have fear or anger. We will have love, joy and peace. Galatians 5:16-26 explains the difference.
Galatians 5:16-26 New King James Version (NKJV)
Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
So get your soul wounds healed by asking Jesus to come when you are triggered and feeling the negative emotions from your past wounds and listen to what He says, then cast the demons that were attached to the wounds to go to the pit, and then walk in peace, love and joy and all the fruit of the spirit instead of the flesh.
