Most people around the world are tormented by demons in their mind (thoughts) and then manifest without even realizing it. Many who attend church and would call themselves Christians also hear from demons in their thoughts (let alone those who are outside the church). The National Science Foundation did a study in 2005 and learned that the average person could have up to 50,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day of which 80% of the thoughts would be negative and 95% of the thoughts were repetitive of the thoughts from the days before.
Demons gain access to people when we endure various wounds in our souls (mind, will and emotions) or when we are physically or sexually harmed as well as when we willingly choose to sin and choose to make confessions to Satan through various ungodly organizations (Freemasons, Shriners, Eastern Star, Skull & Bones, etc.) or if our father or mother or grandparents also have made confessions to Satan through organizations and cursed us. A soul wound could be someone showing you pornography, speaking words to you that hurt you (could be soft and gentle or harsh and loud), getting rejected by someone who should protect you like a parent, having someone who you love treat you harshly, anyone who emotionally or physically abuses you or sexually touches or abuses you (from your siblings, a parent, step-parent or friend or relative or anyone else), and being controlled or manipulated to do what someone else wants, someone lying about you, etc.
When we get hurt in our pasts – wounded emotionally, physically or sexually – the enemy sends his demons to whisper thoughts in our mind and remind us over and over of all the bad things to try to get us angry, jealous, rejected, bitter, never trusting, prideful, sexually perverse and tormented, over and over again in our minds. The thoughts are spoken into our mind by demons and then we often don’t know to take the thought captive like Paul says and instead act out and say and do things that ruin our own relationships and hurt us more.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
So you can imagine if you have been hurt over and over by people struggling with broken relationships then by the time you are 30 or 40 years old – you are an emotional mess. So many who attend church are messes because they are hearing from demons and don’t even have a clue. Unfortunately most pastors will actually preach that a Christian cannot be tormented by demons when the truth is that it is rare to find any Christian who does not get thoughts from demons. It doesn’t mean they are possessed but they definitely are oppressed and affected.
So just how do you know if a person is being tormented by demons in their thoughts? How will they manifest? Below are just some of the traits:
- Fear and Anxiety
- Anger and Bitterness
- Jealousy and Envy
- Sadness and depressed
- You will have condemning thoughts
- Pride
- Sexual perversity and self-pleasing
- Feeling rejected
- Trying to make other people do what you want (controlling & manipulating them to do your will instead of God’s will)
- Behaving very prideful and arrogantly
- Lie a lot and sometimes convince yourself that your lies are the truth
- Striving and causing arguments and strife
- Selfishness
- Taking offense
- Viewing oneself as a victim and telling as many people as possible how sad your life has been over and over to get people to feel sorry for yourself
- Pursuing sinful behavior
- Wanting to be the center of attention and have people adore you
- Never apologizing for bad behavior
- Cannot stand peace or quiet (although desperately wants peace)
- Talks incessantly and over talks others
- Try and seduce others and dress sexually provocatively
- Hypocritical
- Your face shape shifts (eyes can turn black, clinch your teeth, blood pressure rises)
- Throwing things or yelling at people
How do you know if a person has been delivered from demons and is healed from their soul wounds?
- Behave peacefully
- Manifest the fruit of the Spirit consistently with everyone (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Goodness, Kindness, Self-Control)
- Does not strive or argue
- Behave sexually pure
- Be honest
- Behave with Christlike behavior
- Enjoy loving on other people and speaking life and encouragement over them
- Walk humbly before the Lord and people
- Pursue godly behavior
Essentially when a person is not delivered they will be harder to enjoy oneself being around and will usually cause more stress and arguments. They are more self-focused and will often manifest sexually impure. They do not have much godly fruit and will lie often about their own bad behavior and about other people who are good. Many of these people would call themselves Christians but the Lord would not welcome them into heaven as He looks upon their hearts and fruit of their lives.
Galatians 5:16-26 NKJV
Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
So how does one get freed from demons tormenting our thoughts? We need to first and foremost be honest with our own sinful behaviors. We need to truly forgive people who hurt us in our hearts and have no anger and bitterness towards anyone (ask Jesus to give you a word about those who hurt you so you can truly forgive them). Then we need to humble ourselves from all pride in our lives and have a servant’s heart and not a selfish one. We also need to repent for our sin. Then going forward we need to forgive anyone new who hurts us (and there will be plenty) and guard against pride and sin trying to re-enter. We are human and will make mistakes but we need to own them and apologize to people when we do. When we take away the legal rights of the enemy to speak to our minds then we have a cleansed soul with which to live each day. You can do it!
Are you saying that a Christian who doesn’t get delivered and healed before they die won’t go to heaven?
Yes. Matthew 7:21-23.
Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV
I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
