GOD WANTS MARRIAGES THAT ARE HOLY NOT COMPROMISED
God wants both husband and wife to be aligned with living a godly life according to the Bible. They need to both have fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control). They need to both walk in humility and sexual purity.
If your spouse is not living a godly life and is living a sinful life of the flesh then they will try to get you to compromise and tolerate sin in your life. They will come against you fulfilling your calling in the Lord. They will try to pull you away from living a life full of integrity and sexual purity and follow them instead of God which can ultimately affect your salvation if you give yourself over to them in order to “keep the peace.” There was a woman in the Bible named Sapphire who agreed to sin with her husband and it unfortunately cost her life.
“But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.” Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.”
Acts 5:1-11 NKJV
The Lord asked me to marry a woman who unfortunately had the Jezebel spirit and was extremely controlling and evil yet acted godly, prayed in tongues and could prophesy. Yet behind closed doors she emotionally abused me every day for what turned out to be six years. He wanted me to learn about the spirit of Jezebel because he was calling me into a worldwide ministry to help millions of others who were being abused by their spouses. I had to endure some physical and sexual abuse and yet He told me I could not say anything to anyone about it while I was married to her. So I said nothing to anyone – not even my own children or family. But eventually the Lord told me at the end when it was really getting bad “It is time for you to separate from her because she has been given time to repent and refused. Who are you going to serve….the demons in her or me?” So I chose to serve God and separated from her. Then she lied about me to everyone at church and our friends and she moved forward with her 4th divorce. The Lord wanted me to know what the spirit of Jezebel looked like because He said it was so prevalent in men and women in the church around the world and He needed it to be exposed to give people a choice to repent and change or to lie and keep their demons. Then the Lord anointed me to help others around the world to get healed of their soul wounds and delivered from their demons because I knew what it was like and so they could get delivered from the spirit of Jezebel (and Ahab) if they wanted.
Our goal at Restored to Freedom is to get everyone healed and delivered but God told me they all have a freewill to choose to either be honest and get delivered or to lie and keep their demons. So not everyone chooses to be honest and sadly keeps their demons. If you are married to someone that refuses to humble themselves and be honest and get delivered then God will often ask you the same question He did me. Choose today whom you will serve. Are you going to serve the demons in your spouse or serve Me?
It is not an easy decision but we cannot make anyone an idol of anyone before God. God gives everyone a chance to change and choose to align our lives with Him. If our spouse refuses to do the right thing and their behavior is of the flesh and sin then were they ever a true believer? They were a counterfeit sent by Satan to stop you from doing God’s calling. It is especially hard when Satan’s counterfeit goes to church and prays in tongues yet is an actor / actress and not a true believer as they treat their spouse emotionally abusive or worse behind closed doors. Many of them are pastors or pastor wives, intercessors, prophets, teachers, leaders, mentors, etc.
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthian 6:14-18 ESV
God wants us all to follow him and in so doing you may have to pull away from family members or an ungodly spouse who are not living a godly life. It is not an easy decision and I always tell people to ask the Lord and get a word from Him directly and then do what He says. God gives everyone a chance to do the right thing but never overrides our freewill.
“Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife (or husband) or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.””
Mark 10:28-31 NKJV
We must choose who we will ultimately serve – the Lord or the demons in another person. The religious leaders in most churches will tell the truly emotionally abused spouse that God hates divorce in order to make them stay under the control of an ungodly person with demonic spirits. But God does not want you to compromise your walk with Him unto anyone who is not living a godly life who is abusing you.
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Matthew 10:34-39 NKJV
So what we have seen is that ungodly people in marriages are being asked to choose to be honest with their behavior that is sinful and repent and change and get delivered from their demons. We have seen a good percentage of people who follow Restored to Freedom getting delivered and saving their marriages and then both serving the Lord. But if the ungodly and abusive spouse refuses to get delivered and change then the spouse that has been hurt and emotionally abused needs to decide who they will serve, their spouse or God.
We have seen the Lord reward the abused spouse once they have decided to serve the Lord completely and remove themselves from their abuser to be able to do their calling and they are blessed. Many are being connected to their true kingdom spouse as I have and are now able to begin serving the Lord together. So those who suffered abuse are helping others who are being abused to be ministered to and get healed from their wounds and delivered from their demons. God is not pleased with those who abuse their spouse in marriages.
“And this is the second thing you do: You cover the altar of the Lord with tears, With weeping and crying; So He does not regard the offering anymore, Nor receive it with goodwill from your hands. Yet you say, “For what reason?” Because the Lord has been witness Between you and the wife of your youth, With whom you have dealt treacherously; Yet she is your companion And your wife by covenant. But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. “For the Lord God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.” You have wearied the Lord with your words; Yet you say, “In what way have we wearied Him?” In that you say, “Everyone who does evil Is good in the sight of the Lord, And He delights in them,” Or, “Where is the God of justice?””
Malachi 2:13-17 NKJV
Understand that many marriages had a person with the Jezebel spirit living an ungodly life saying they were a Christian who purposefully married someone with a mercy heart who they knew they could control. Their assignment from Satan was to dominate and control their spouse to keep them from God’s assignment. God then gives them time to repent but if they refuse then God will often put them on a sickbed like it says in Revelation 2:18-23.
““And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, ‘These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.”
Revelation 2:18-23 NKJV
God wants all marriages to be holy and blessed full of peace, true intimacy and doing His calling in your lives without strife, arguments, sin and compromises. Choose today whom you will serve, God or demons.
