HOW TO RESPOND TO LIES, TWISTED TRUTHS & FALSE ACCUSATIONS
What I have learned is that someone who is doing great things for God will always have those who are operating in the demonic (unhealed from their soul wounds or delivered) who will try to come against them by trying to impact as many people as possible with spreading lies, rumors, gossip, twisted truths and false accusations against them. It is par for the course for all in the Bible who did great things for God. Remember Joseph whose brothers were jealous of him and sold him to the Egyptians and then he did great things for Potiphar only to have false accusations from his wife come against Joseph and he went to jail for 3 years before finally getting out and moving up to number two in command of all of Egypt. Daniel was attacked by his fellow governors and satraps who plotted to kill him by creating a law that they knew could entrap him – yet they were ultimately killed by the Lions. Remember Haman trying to hang Mordecai and other Jews but then he was ultimately hung on his own gallows.
The best teacher is always real life experience and if you are helping change lives for the good, save marriages and especially getting people delivered from demons then you will be attacked by unhealed people who are hearing demons and operating in witchcraft who will spread lies, twisted truths and false accusations about you to try to get you to give up on doing what God wants you to do.
So how did Jesus respond to his false accusers?
It was found that Jesus primarily responded to false accusation in six ways: by asking questions; by sharing parables, or analogies; by giving strong words of condemnation or affirmation; by referring to the scriptures; by withdrawing from the accusers; and by keeping silent.
One of the hardest things to do is to not respond when someone is attacking your character with blatant lies, twisted truth and false accusations and gossip.
When Jesus is brought before Caiaphas the high priest he is generally quiet, does not mount a defense, and rarely responds to the accusations, and is found guilty of various offenses: violating the Sabbath law (by healing on the Sabbath), threatening to destroy the Jewish Temple, practicing sorcery, exorcising people by the power of demons, and claiming to be the son of God.
“And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ” And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.” Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?””
Matthew 26:57-68 NKJV
Ultimately Satan is the great accuser of the brethren but he will always use unhealed and demonic influenced people to do his lying and accusing for him.
“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
Revelation 12:9-11 NKJV
What typically will happen is the ungodly accuser who is trying to appear godly will do or say something which causes their godly victim to have to pull away from them and separate or have nothing to do with them and then the accuser will feel rejected or angry that they cannot control them so they make up a false narrative and shout or whisper it to as many who will listen (often on social media or in private conversations, emails and texts) trying to paint themselves as an innocent victim who has done nothing wrong and then make up things that the true victim never did in order to get people to agree with them to support or feel sorry for them in order to recruit them to come against their victim to ultimately hate on them and try to get them to spread the gossip and lies to others.
Then what happens is that over time the truth is revealed to those who are more godly and righteous as the Lord shows them the truth (sometimes in dreams or words from the Lord) or they can see clearly that the Lord is using them. Those who have the same soul wounds and demons as the lying accuser will usually support the accuser because they have the same wounds and demons in common with the accuser. Over time the lying accuser’s life will get worse and the true victim’s life will get better as the fruit will show both ways.
So what I have found is usually the best way to handle lies, twisted truth and false accusations is to never respond on social media as that is usually the main telling tactic of the lying accuser to try to make themselves appear as a victim and totally innocent to as many people as possible. Then if individuals reach out to you inquiring of the truth you are free to share it. Always ask the Lord for His guidance. Remember that those who are in the wrong will always try and make themselves appear to be a victim and overly act as such and talk a lot while those who are telling the truth tend to be short and to the point. God knows the truth and that is all that matters. It may not be fun to be thought of in false ways but a person’s fruit will be revealed over time and those who are falsely accused will be exonerated by God while those who are driven by vengeance will be dealt with by God.
“And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,”
I Peter 3:13-18 NKJV
